The Role of AVID Tutors

Tutors are essential to the success of the AVID elective class, where they facilitate student access to rigorous curriculum. AVID students who continue their education in college often return to the program as tutors.

If you are interested in being a Supervising Teacher for AVID Tutor Training Online, please complete the form below. Your tutors will need to sign-up for accounts separately, and will be grouped so that you can easily monitor their progress. It is important that you create an account prior to your tutors, so your group name can be included in the drop-down menu on the Tutor Sign-Up Form.

This online training course is designed to assist you in training your AVID tutors to facilitate rigorous, collaborative tutorials. As you know, AVID tutors are required to receive 16 hours of AVID tutor training. Although there are more than 16 hours of training activities in this online course, the majority of your training should take place in the AVID classroom. This online training resource should only be used to supplement the training you are providing in a face-to-face format in your AVID class.
