  • Computer Graphics (Graphic Design) Grade level: 10, 11, 12 Course Length: 2 Semesters (Full year course) Credits: 5 per Semester. (10) Internship: 1 credit per 35 hours of internship work, up to 5 credits per semester (10) Meets UC (F) (VPA art) elective credit Course Description: Graphic Design explores the drawing and design principles, tools and techniques used in graphic design. The historical, social and cultural analyses of art and design are explored and analyzed. Emphases are placed upon the practical aspects of commercial art (graphic design and art direction) and how this art is used in publishing, design and illustration, photography, multimedia and Internet web presentations. Technology and computers are used as design tools. A systematic and structured approach is used to complete a wide range of projects of increasing difficulty in various types of media. This course meets the University of California (F) requirement for Visual and Performing Arts. As such, this course requires a high degree of commitment, work ethic and maturity. The homework load is very moderate because class time is highly productive and demanding. CONSISTENT attendance and participation are critical for success in this course.

    Economics of Marketing is an elective college prep course designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills to enter and succeed in the world of the marketer. An in-depth study of the economy of the 21st century and aspects of marketing are examined. Economic and marketing concepts, such as database management, advanced communications strategies, decision-making for the market place, and resource allocation and product distribution, are emphasized. Students will explore the utilization of traditional advertising, integrated marketing communications, and new media in local, regional, national and global markets. The course will cover such topics as: advertising campaigns, ad agencies, copy writing, the impact of new technology, e-commerce, interactive electronic media, corporate positioning, branding, consumer behavior, media sales, marketing management, and the legal and ethical considerations of the industry.

    Students will learn very basic, beginning level skills in creation and production of marketing material including graphic design software, data base software and presentation software.


  • Advanced Placement (AP) US Government and Politics is a one semester survey of American Government and Politics covering the Constitution, political beliefs, political parties, interest groups, institutions of government, public policy and civil rights. Emphasis is placed on critical and evaluative thinking skills, free response writing, and interpretation of original documents. This curriculum covers all of the material outlined by the College Board as necessary to prepare you to pass the US Government and Politics exam along with helping you become a active citizen in our nation.
  • This is a one year study of the modern world. We will investigate events that have occurred in the world during the last two centuries to see how they have led to situations we find ourselves in today, and evaluate how knowledge of the past can guide us in making sensible decisions in the present. As this is Team, be prepared for the unexpected and unusual, like learning about, gasp, history in English and even English in History. You should even be prepared for spending 3-4 days on one subject instead of switching everyday. Can you handle it?
  • This online component of our course is designed to be a supplement to the information that we cover in class. This online environment will be were we have deeper discussions, questions, and analysis of the different subjects we work on in class.

  • The Biology course is a first-year course in biology at the high school level. The course emphasizes a multi-representational approach to algebra, with concepts, results, and problems being expressed graphically, analytically, and verbally. The course uses four themes to organize important concepts throughout the course: science, technology, and society; evolution; the relationship between structure and function; and science as a process.
    The Biology course involves the scientific study of living organisms. The course considers the interactions among the vast number of organisms that inhabit planet Earth. It presents the basic form and function of these organisms, from cells to organ systems, from simple viruses to complex humans. It delves into interactions between organisms, and between an organism and its environment. It also looks into how biotechnology is used to improve our health and daily lives.

  • Welcome to the UCCP Advanced Placement (AP) Biology course. This curriculum covers all of the material outlined by the College Board as necessary to prepare students to pass the AP Biology exam. This course is designed to acquaint you with the general concepts of life including reproduction, balance in nature, and the nature of living things. You will focus on three broad sections that align with the goals for the AP exam: Molecules and Cells, Heredity and Evolution, and Organisms and Populations.
